General Details

Name of Accounts:
Enter the name used to refer to these accounts, the default is 'Part'.

Name of Types:
Enter the name to refer to the main part classification. The default is 'Type'. Other examples may include Category, Model or Brand.

Name of Sub-types:
Enter the name used to refer to the second part classification. This defaults to 'Category'.

Length of Account Numbers:
Enter the number of characters the longest part number will be. The minimum should be 6. This value will be used on screens and reports.

Length of Account Names:
Enter the number of characters the longest part description will be. This value will be used on screens and reports.

Security Level for Batch Totals:
Enter the security level required (IN module) to view batch totals. You may want to hide totals for security reasons.

Price Headings:
Enter the headings required for the 5 different prices that can be defined in FastBase.
Leave blank any prices that you won't be using.

Security Levels:
Enter the security level required to view each price. Some prices may be private and you don't want all staff to see them.

Valuation Method:
Specify either FIFO or Average.

Replacement Cost Basis:
The replacement cost can be calculated by taking the average unit price of the last 3 purchases or by taking the supplier list price and multiplying it by a costing multiplier.
If unsure leave as the default.

Negative Stock Security:
Specify the security level required to allow negative stock situations. The default is 10 which means nobody can create negative stock.
If stock goes into negatives this creates problems for stock costing. It is strongly recommended that you consider changing your procedures so that all stock is receipted into the computer when it arrives and so that negative stock situations cannot arise.

Stock/Purchases Account:
Enter the account for stock on hand, all purchases will be posted to this account.
FastBase uses this account for all stock in and stock out transactions.

Sales Account:
Enter the GL sales account.

Cost of Sales Account:
Enter the cost of sales account.

Non-Stock "Stock" Account:
Purchase of non-stock items should not be posted to the main stock account. Specify an alternate stock account for non-stock purchases.

Stock Clearing Account:
When a goods receipt transaction is completed and the suppliers invoice is generated there may be variances between the value of stock being receipted and the value of the suppliers invoice. Usually this will apply to rounding errors only. Specify a clearing account to post these variances to.

Goods in Transit Account:
If you require goods in transit functionality specify the GIT account here. See New Goods Receipt for further explanation.

Stock Transfer Freight
Supply Branch (credit):
Receiving Branch (debit):
If you require freight on Stock Transfer transactions to be coded to special freight accounts specify them here. If no accounts are specified here then freight on stock transfers will not be posted anywhere.
